Star Trek Online, which is one of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG), made by Cryptic Studios, the basement is the popular Star Trek series created by Gene Roddenberry. It is often abbreviated as STO, set in the 25th century, 30 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis. Development
Before bankruptcy of Perpetual Entertainment, it developed the game from 2004 to 2008. Then the license to develop the game and art assets were transferred to Cryptic Studios; however, the Perpetual Entertainment still remained with the code and its Perpetual Game Engine.
On July 28, 2008, Cryptic Studios officially proclaimed its development of Star Trek Online, as a countdown timer on Cryptic's web site reached zero. At the same time, the new official site was launched. Jack Emmert, as the game's online producer, dealt many aspects of Cryptic's approach. sto es
Cryptic has announced that they will open a Windows version of STO, if it possible they will release a console version, too. Linux and Mac versions are both not for the original launch, even though they did not close out the possibility of later port releases, Cryptic announced, among the August 10 Las Vegas conference. sto energy credits
In North America, the Star Trek Online will release on on February 2, 2010, and open on February 5, 2010, in Europe. If customers hope to access to the game on January 29, 2010, they have to order it in advance, of course, this is before its official release date. sto es
Conference in Las Vegas
Leonard Nimoy and the leader of Cryptic studios held a conference n the Hilton hotel in Las Vegas, on August 10, 2008. They revealed the first gameplay trailer, discussing various Federation and Klingon starships in combat with each other and Borg vessels, meanwhile footage of a Klingon squad boarding a Federation ship's bridge is also the point of this conference. Beta releases
The Star Trek Online’s closed beta began on October 22, 2009. Users who bought 6-month and lifetime subscriptions to Champions Online can get the beta access, however, the offer did not clearly state how long time in the beta process the access will be granted.
Cryptic proclaimed that Star Trek Online would quit Closed Beta on November 19, 2009, and started Open Beta from January 12, 2010- January 26, 2010. sto es
Pre-order specials
Cryptic Studios has joined in some retailers for distribution of preorder copies. Each retailer has a version with distinctive and particular aspect, for example, a Borg Bridge Officer , Chromodynamic Armor or a Tribble pet. All versions of the game have their features and hope to get an access to the Open Beta, and then directly go to start launch date.
